What with 42 or less ever made , not many left around . Great boat with amazing ride quality and hefty feel of a much larger boat .
I've never seen one with that bow rail before and the engines/drives also indicate that maybe a little customization was done along with a re-power at some point .
My guess is that it was originally a twin in line 6 Volvo/270 boat.

Also getting a spare set of drives with the deal.

Most likely going to have a single BB transplant

We get it back home and see what's still good on those VP's. May rebuild those.

Looking forward, had to sell my 28 Cigarette Open back in 2009 , been a long time .

From FB:

Randy Naser Good morning boating fans! I wanted to update you on my recent excursion to buy and bring home a 1975 Magnum Marine 25. I just arrived home from a 23 hour, 904 mile road trip and another case of Caveat Emptor! The history of the boat and sellers disclosure about the boat was through unfortunately the boat did not size up to the hype. Any day you can walk away from a Legendary Classic boat that has a rotten transom and stringers is a great day! I always hate when I do not listen to my little voice of intelligence and reason and instead go with emotion and "do it to myself one more time"! After banging around the transom, stringers and deck I knew it was going to be ugly. The final straw was that I was told the motor had been run recently by the marina and they had throughly cleaned out the 100 gallon gas tank and left it bone dry, so it could be filled with gas again when the boat was going back in service. The gas tank was beneath a panel in the deck that was screwed down and caulked throughly. The gas cap was in place and everything looked to be in order. I unscrewed the water tight deck access plate to take a look at the gas tank and sending unit, to my surprise, the sending unit was not screwed to the tank, it had popped out of the tank by the float and was crumbling from rust and I pulled it out and the 100 gallon gas tank was completely filled to the top with water! The sellers response was that "we need to pump that water out"! I walked away from making the purchase and thankful for not making another stupid decision that I would greatly regret later. Happy boating and please do a through inspection before buying your next boat! Signing off!

Side note? Just for fun, how do you think the 100 gallon gas tank got filled with water?
