Default 28zx cockpit cooler

Anyone know if the 28zx in dash compartment on the passenger side of the cockpit is a cooler or just storage space? It appears to have a small hole in the bottom to possibly drain water. I'd like to use it as a cooler, but am afraid to have water leak from it if it doesn't drain into the bilge.

On my 26zx it's supposed to be a cooler but it appears to drain into the center bilge. I don't use it as cooler just a glove box because some water stays trapped in the center bilge and only removed by the autobilge pump or you have to shop vac it out. It think your 28 is the same set up as mine.

it's a cooler. you can plug the drain then pull it at the end of the day. as already said, it goes into the front bilge. I never worried about that because mine is an open so the front area all drains in there anyway. I never use mine as a cooler though, PITA to load and unload, so I just bring a softside AO cooler

Thanks guys. I'm not sure I'll ever use it as a cooler either, too convenient for storage, but who knows...might need the extra beer one day. Thanks again.

Funny how we all used to own a 22 classic and moved up but stayed with the brand.
