Default measuring for Bolsters

I'm looking to install bolsters where there was pedestal seats. What should be the criteria when fitting the bolsters. I would like to be able to sit and stand while driving. The bolsters are free standing. Thanks guys.

I put both legs on the driver bolster and played with positioning forward and aft to find where I was most comfortable. Be sure you check what is under the floor where the mounting pad lands. I was able to get under mine and add additional support and using 1/4" T bolts to secure to floor. Obviously mounted with only 1 leg support and 1 gunnel support.
Good luck
