Default Teague 825 EFI Vs Merc 525 Supercherged Stage 1 Whipple

Teague offers an 825 EFI High performance Engine Package with 825 HP, Displacement 509 Cubic Inches, 5600 - 6000 RPM, 91 Octane, with a 1 year Limited warranty. Or I can add a stage 1 Whipple to my Merc 525 HO. I'm not sure what my HP will be with the Whipple stage 1 upgrade. Does anyone know what hp I will get with the upgrade to the merc 525 and what type of performance? I am looking for some info on this to make a decision. I can sell my 525 and put the money into the 825 EFI from Teague.

Have you considered that you will also need new drives? Assuming you have 525's and bravos behind them, those will not hold up long behind 800+ HP.

That would mean you will have an even more expensive broken Bravo drive. They are still Merc XR gears.
You need a BMax or SCX to handle 800hp

Why do engine questions always turn into discussions about drives? And then not get answers to the original question?

That has nothing to do with a whipplecharger. That's just there pcm program.

I don't know anything about the Teague motor and have not personally done the whipple upgrade so couldn't comment on either of those two things. But, the OP specifically asked for "info to help make a decision". He specifically mentioned using money from the sale of a 525 to offset the cost of an 825 and the questions he's asking lead the reader (me) to think that he may not realize that the drives would be a serious consideration here. His post left me with an impression that he thought he was just going to swap the two.

I really appreciate all the feedback on this. After reading the info that HyFive 578 posted regarding the drive this is a concern to me.
Option 1 Upgrade the 525 and still Upgrade the drive as well. $$$
Option 2 Sell my complete package Stock Mercury 525 with the upgraded XR Drive. Purchase the Teague 825 EFI Which I would also need to Upgrade my Drive $$$
So then the question is... has anyone done either of these upgrades on their boat & what Horsepower will I be looking at with the Whipple upgrade to the Mercury 525 and what type of performance? I am concerned on how the deck boat performs with this upgrade.
I also am reading that if I upgrade my drive to an SCX or BMAX I will give up some performance overall. Again thanks to everyone in this post for all the feedback.

Your going to be around 750hp with a whipple on a 525. Your valve train should also be upgraded if you plan to go this route. I would sell your stock 525 and buy the motor that was built to be supercharged from the beginning. It may be more money upfront but I think it'll be cheaper in the long run.
