Default Arneson Drive traits

Was thinking about Arnesons and was wondering about any drawbacks versus standard drives with regards to handling, turning, trimability, do they stay hooked up in rough water or any weird traits. Thanks for the input.

I made the switch and, well the boat in rough feels like a 6' longer boat. I have yet to find any drawbacks. A lot less down time due to broken bravos!

Hard to dock, not good when swimming, custom trailer, expensive props, limited resale opportunities. Other than these short comings, they look pretty cool 😎

I find that people that say a staggered, surface drive boat is hard to dock can't dock a side by side bravo boat either.

This is not the sentiment that my customers express. Quite the opposite as we have more mechanical leverage and the larger diameter propellers bite better and the transmission doesn't clunk into gear like the I/O's do.

Seems misnomers are hard to let go on the internet.

Rik a few questions on the Bravo Conversion.

1. Approximate cost of conversion kit?
2. Approximate cost of rigging?
3. Anyone using one on a Velocity VR 290 or a 280?

Thanks,

Padraig

There are no negatives to these drives.

I have the arneson conversion kits and the only big difference i have encountered is the time it takes for my boat to plane off when it is dead calm compared to the bravo's other than that no draw backs
