The story is:
I had a 26 daytona with this engine in it, with 95 hrs.....i had a house fire and the fire went into the garage...the boat was totalled (wasnt that bad but insurance totalled it) and i kept the engine...not knowing if the firemen shot water up the pipes...i tore it down and had it totally gone through...block checked and heads checked...we did sleeve cy. 1 (the right way) because of very slight water intrusion that put a couple very small pits in the very top of the cy. Wall we put all new seals, bearings etc. In since it was apart along with new components...alt. starter. All new hoses etc.
Fiberglass doesnt burn so under the hatch looked fine....blower vent tubes werent even damaged...although i did have a scoop on the hatch, parts of that melted and sat on intake/harness...i bought an entire used (with 45 hrs. On them) computer/fuel/intake set up.
We did smooth the head ports (not ported) and gained cfm...i have the test chart from that...i have the coolant reservoir, oil cooler, flywheel and bellhousing you dont see in the pics also. This engine looks brand new!
Phils performance is a local 1 man shop here that builds high performance big ci engines for marine and strip.
Plus hes a personal friend of mine.
Im also a career mechanic of 23 yrs
Thats it in a nut shell....hell of a engine...up til 2 months ago i had a 27 daytona i did this engine for to swop out the 496ho hat was in it...but sold the boat to go another route with my family plus building a home.
I also have a maximus 30 pitch 5 blade thats been labbed by bblades that i was gonna use on this set up also for sale...its never been bolted onto a propshaft.
Hopefully this all helps.
