Default OT - Digital Cameras?

I've been seeing so many beautiful pics on the board from Digital cameras that I think I now have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of the 70's & into the new millenium of cameras!
Seriously.... i stopped at a camera store the other day & left with a HEADACHE.... to many choices.... couldn't see the forest through the trees! I have an old pentium 486 computer running Windows 98.... its my office workhorse & is sufficient for "beancounting" (CPA Firm).... Can I get some help choosing a good, reasonably priced, user friendly digital camera so I can share some pics like the rest of the world....

Stay in the 70's you left over hippie! No one wants to see your ugly mug, especially on OSO!

MORNING Gary.

Mike,

Smoked the port gear case Sunday! Winterized it yesterday and will work on it over the winter. How's your boat running? Until I broke she was running like a CHAMP!

I'm kinda partial to my Sony DSC-75. This one was taken against a mirror on a less than sober occasion.

Look at the Nikon line, from the 995 to the 5000. Priced from probably 5 hundred to a grand.

Don't think you are stuck in the 70's because you don't have digital. I just went out and spent $4400 on a medium format Mamiya auto focus and two lenses.

I sell ya my Minolta 7000i with a auto focus and bounce flash 200
that way you wont have to buy a new computer
yours to slow and wont have USB ports
Also I would let my Olympus digital SLR go for 300
