Default Where to get cheep aluminum in Ohio

Looking to make a gas tank out of 5052 aluminum and I am having a hard time finding it a decent price anywhere around here. Or does anyone know where to get a tank made at a decent price?

I usually just go into Alro Steel. Looks like the closest locations to you would be Columbus or Akron. If you know roughly what size sheet you need you can go in and ask to see what they have in "drops". A lot of companies have stuff cut to size from them and the drops are what is left over and is usually a lot cheaper because its an oddball size.

They seem to have a pretty good price for full sheets. 150 for a 4x8 or .125 and I will have to check on the drops when I go down.

Ayuh,.... That's the name of the game in warehouse metal buyin',....

Ya pay for the full sheet/ beam/ bar/ whatever,....
If ya want it cut, that's extra,...
Don't need the drops,... they sell 'em, even though you've pretty much already paid for the weight,...

There is a scrap yard in Columbus that specializes in Aluminum mostly purchases over stock from manufactures. Purchased several 4 x 8 sheets to make enclosures for my fuel cell and some other things. In my case they were in Ryerson shipping pallets

Justintocars,
Seems to me that there would be an increased amount of conform, safety and less liability in not building a fuel tank as a DIY project.

Have you considered Natty light...its cheap, hydrating, and you have all that leftover aluminum to recycle...
