Might depend on how you run it and how well they are built.

Generally speaking, pretty close. The HP500 mercs, don't last much longer than the 575SCI's, before needing attention..

Ran a ProCharger on my 502MPI for three years with no trouble. Tore it down after that and it looked great.

really depends on what and how you build it... Im putting together a 600 hp 454 that should be low maint

A stock 502 with decent heads and a nice little roller cam is going to run with an hp 500 and be just as dependable if the 502 is set up sanely with a decent blower your going to make a lot more power and it should live a long and happy life
