So I have subscribed since they first started a few years ago. However I feel I only get it because there is nothing else available. I just got the latest issue yesterday. I was done with it in 5 minutes. It's literally just a picture book. Almost zero that relates to actual boaters. It's cool to see the 150 mph $800,000 cats sometimes. I understand some race coverage. But damn, how about boats people could really buy. Performance info about boats we could own. Maybe some readers rides and such.
I used to feel the same about powerboat mag just before it died. Powerboat was great years ago. I have hundreds of old issues I still spend time with on occasion. Then they started only covering the crazy stuff 95% of us can't even afford to dream of. This kind me of makes it lose relevance.
Hot boat used to cover it all. It's a shame it's gone. Now with only one option I wish they would do a little better at speedboat magazine. Otherwise I see no reason to continue to subscribe.
Rant over.......

I really liked Hot Boat and Powerboat was a close second. Now I get the BoatU.S. mag, which comes with my membership, and I pay for Boating mag. I feel your pain. Magazines just can't get advertisers anymore.

I subscribe to speedboat, poker runs America, and get the annual speed on the water mag. All of them are a little dissapointing but at the same time I still love supporting them, it's pretty inexpensive really and there's just something about print!
What you are forgetting is everything has already been covered multiple times on the internet before it goes to print, especially with social media, shoot even this site is dissapointing!
Try hanging out in some other sections of this forum and you will find some cool budget projects, pics, and info. Don't forget to contribute some yourself also!

Been out of town so hopefully its in our mailbox when we get home. I'll call or email you with any suggestions, no hard feelings, and I'll post if its the first magazine in years to blow me away!
Another thing I think the OP forgets is the longer we are in this hobby, follow it, learn, etc, the harder it is to "impress", "surprise", or "excite" us with content. I think there's more to it than just saying the magazines have gone down hill......
