Default Garmin Question ??

Have a new project,
I'm looking for a 12" screen GPS, I prefer a Garmin touch screen.
I found this model for $2K, not looking for anything spectacular just a large screen to see speed, where I'm going etc... this unit states it comes with antenna etc..
I Google Garmin 8212 and this is the first one that pops up but its a 8012, all the other units are $5K and this is $2K?
My question is will this work or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance, Patrick

The Garmin 8200 series have been discontinued. The 8212 comes with external antenna and card reader with built in basic charts for US. No inland lakes.
8012 i believe was a second station with no antenna or card reader.
I would recommend buying a 7612 which has built in wifi, gps antenna and is a current model. The 7600 series are available from 7" ,8" 10" 12 and 16".

That's kind of my point, it states that it comes with antenna, charts etc.. I was thinking second station as well... but it states below otherwise? I was to believe that the 8200 series is better than the 7600 series? I just don't want to purchase the wrong thing. Hence why I'm questioning myself?

Garmin GPSMAP 8012 MFD 12" Chartplotter with GPS Antenna and BlueChart g2 US Coastal, Canada West and Bahamas - Same as 8212!

Our fully-integrated 12" touchscreen multifunction display (MFD) includes the best marine user interface from Garmin. The epitome of the Power of Simple, the GPSMAP 8012 is one of the most technologically-advanced, easiest to use MFDs we have ever offered.

Originally the 8200 series was better than the 7200 series and was a step up. It did have a faster processor.
However the 7600 series has more features and is selling for less than the 8200 series did when it was current.
They 8600 series starts with a 17" display on up.
The units are good but if it were me I would want some the newer features that the 7600 has.
Garmin will not be offering anymore enhancements for the 8200 series as it has been discontinued.

GArmin is a great unit but I tossed mine after using for 2 months. It's hard to work everything thru touch especially in the ocean, I would suggest you look at a Hybrid Touch with noobs and buttons. I went with the Raymarine and love it, Simrad has it also.
