It's winter. Everyone north of Georgia is bored. Let's have a little fun. What are the 5 best sensations of offshore powerboating to you? The 5 indescribable moments that no other sport can give you. Here's mine.

1. The moment of terror everyone on the dock has when you fire engine one up.
2. The magical moment when #2 roars into life.
3. Finally getting on plane after a long 5mph zone
4. Hitting the magic 100
5. The "silence" while flying through the air, Throttleman totally out of the juice, waiting for impact.

Theres a million more.

Taking out self proclaimed "tough guys" like motorcycle racers, off-road racers, helicopter pilots, etc. and scaring the living **** out of them in some medium duty bumps.

People do not understand the violence of running all out offshore, even when you try to describe it to them.

Anyways, I agree, the silence of flying through the air.

Also, the clacking of the throttles against the WOT stops when BT is gettin some, that you can hear over the engines, and intercom, through earplugs.

2. When your driving and throttling , its lumpy your running hard and your in that zone when nothing else in the world matters except hitting the next wave.
3. When you get back to the dock, drink in habd talking to your friends about 1 and 2....

Reading the water and timing landings. Getting into a rhythm forgetting that the wife is in the boat ****ting her pants

That rolling, droning hum of twin 525's in sync at about 3500-4000 rpm.

Taking someone out for the first time that has never experienced a performance boat and observing thier sheer awe as they get ready to board.

The jitters you get taking a "new to you boat" on your first run and the excitement of the first run of the season after winter layup.

Docking like boss. With or without onlookers.

The sense of accomplishment you get from owning one of these things. Not just anyone can hop behind the wheel and go. It takes real some skill to do it right. And let's face it - they're expensive to buy, expensive to operate, expensive to fix and they don't hold thier value for chit BUT I LOVE EVERY BIT OF IT.

I know you were requesting an offshore sensation, and Hells Gate is def inshore, but on a 17 HYDROSTREAM, if you're further than 50 feet from shore is like being OFFSHORE

The sound that a Mercury 2.5 (or better yet, multiple 2.5’s) make when you come up on plane.

People coming up to you and commenting how great your boat looks, sounds or how well it takes rough water.

The thrill of beating somebody in a “faster” boat in rough water by out driving them at nowhere near your top speed.

Perfectly timing getting out of, them back into the throttle (or throttles) for a perfect launch and re-entry.

Finally getting the tabs and trim “just right” in a long, rough stretch.

You're at the right speed and trim, you begin to feel the fast and subtle vibration of water on the hull bottom, the boat quickly picks up 5 MPH ... you know you are up, riding optimally on the pad!
