Wanting to buy a trailer for my 382 SR!. Keep in on a lift all the time but wanting to bring it home for winters and store inside my garage. I have 44'6" and wondering if I have enough length. Trailer will not have outdrive guard so I think it will measure 42'. Anyone that has a 382 on a trailer, could you let me know the overall length?

I think that generally most trailer builders make the tongue too long. I shortened the tongue on my aluminum 382 trailer by 3 feet years ago. It made better turning in parking lots. It was still good to launch without submerging the truck and I think it towed better. Here in Commiefornia 65' overall combined is the limit. With the shortened version is was under with a crew longbed.

It depends on the trailer.


Boat plus 7 feet is a good solid & conservative number to go by.
Aluminum bolt-together trailers are typically longer than welded steel or welded aluminum trailers.
Surge brakes adds about 1' foot to overall length due to the coupler. EoH Brakes is the way to go, and saves you length too.
ITS drives or stand off boxes will add to that, as much as 12 inches.


A neighbor had a special trailer built so he could fit is 30 Outlaw in his garage, which was 34-ish feet I believe. It had a really short tongue to where the bow was pretty much over the trailer jack/foot.

Each trailer will be different, my 382 SR1 has 4'-0" boat overhang on the back of the trailer and 5'-0" trailer in front of the boat. Or better said length of the boat + 5'-0" = 43'-0"

Don't forget to figure in the outdrives in the total length measurement. Do they stick out past the swim platform?

I had a 382 on an aluminum trailer in a 14 x 42ft long "portable garage". It pushed both ends out roughly a foot.

This measurement is from the front of the trailer to the back of the drive that is about 2" longer than the swim platform

Thank you all for you response. I have 44'6" from wall to door! I think I will fit but an going to give trailer builder my deminsions and let him figure it out. Electric over hydraulic brakes is the ticket I agree. Thanks again

You can make it fit, but be care about moving the boat forward too much and upsetting the load over the axles. Send me an email and I will send you some picks of my 382 on a trailer.

Our myco with drive guards is 43' so you should be fine
