what kind of maintenance schedule would one expect from 600" 1000hp blower engines? (assuming normal responsible engine usage, no real long WOT runs, keeping the boost levels down while cruising, ect.)
rebiulds at 50 hours? or can they reasonabley make it longer??? What do these 50 hour rebiulds entail ($$$)? are we talking new valves, spings and gaskets ect. or total tear downs with major machine work?
what kind of standard maintence? oil changes, plugs, and the basic crap every couple hours? or do big HP engine need "other"
maintence?

End of each season (about 75 hours) top end tear down and replace the lifters(1 inch lifters)150 hours complete tear down, bearings replaced and a very, very close inspection of everything,EVERYTHING.Otto

never had that type of engine.but reading & searching detailed info about them for a long time.
36spectre ; probably knows better then me but my personal idea is 2much HP is 2much TROUBLE.
keep low - keep'em around 600-650 hp and enjoy boating

most of the big problems I've had were related to other stuff takin a ****. Just cracked a piston because of a leaking header. Overheated because I sucked up seaweed and melted a piston. Broke a valve and it went thru a piston. Its little stuff that ends up eating me alive.
