Default Through transom water pick-up on a notched hull

I really want the OSO expert opinion on this before I drill.

I am rigging a 1994 26’ Velocity and want to use a through transom water pick-up through a strainer for engine cooling. Everything I have read and seen about thorough transom water pickup placement indicates “as close the bottom center as possible but not in front of the propeller.” With the notch on this hull, it can be one (as close the bottom center as possible) or the other (not in front of the propeller); but not both. I made a template of the through transom water pick-up mounting foot print to illustrate my question. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also is there any reason for right side or left side?

don't put in front of the prop. If you are forced to, place it on the up-swing side of prop.

This is what my water pickup looks like. The template is only the mounting flange. It has to be high enough to clear the cored hull, but not so high that the flange doesn't seat flat against the hull. The suction leg will extend down to the bottom of the hull.

You're probably going to have to mount it off the notch off to the side. If you mount it where it's allowed to disturb water flow to the prop it will increase prop slip. Transom water p/u can be mounted on the notch on twin engine setups where the props are not in the center

Different boat, different engines but if it's of any help......

That's 'looks like' the same water pickup Fountain used for their bait tank. Mine was located on the notch at a slight angle from vertical, roughly perpendicular to the bottom. I had triples and it was lined up between the centre and starboard engines. (34 centre console)
