Let me add more to the story.............
My 252 Formula Bowrider went from mid 50s with 330HP to mid 70s with the 720HP motor in it currently
The 252 has a standard V Hull and weighs 4525lbs according to Formulas spec sheet.
The 271 in question, currently runs mid 60s with stock 502Mag with 415HP Fastec Hull design, but weighs 725lbs more than my 252.
I would assume low 80s but was hoping someone on here had a 271 Fastec with similar power
Thanks

I know exactly how fast it will go. you have basically the same motor as mine built by the same person. The problem is the hull and the chine walk problems. No problem running low 80s with a box stock 28 pitch bravo prop with at least quarter throttle left . After 80 the chine walk gets scary. Have not dialed in a prop , never tested a set up with an extension box or shorty drive. Have looked in to having the bottom blueprinted but not cost effective for a formula. So to answer your post. Low 80s with safety in mind. All these speeds are on a livorsi gps speedo with 100 gallons of fuel and 3-4 people on board. I'm not one of those people that give speeds with 5 gallons in the tank and one person aboard holding their tongue the right way and a 20 mph tail wind. You can take these numbers to the bank. Just come to Greensboro and look at my boat if you want one . Jeff wurl

I see you have a boat in mind. Don't forget you need full hydraulic steering . Real merc 280 tabs with indicators and at least an xr drive and hp gimbal . . The stock 271 tabs are worthless . Would not even consider tying these speeds in a 271 without the other upgrades . . Jeff wurl
