Hi!
I have been looking at a new boat for a while. Unfortunately the Norwegian Krone lost its momentum towards USD and Euro some years back (30-50%), so everything got increasingly expensive. Especially when looking at fx OL SV29 with 565.
Now with the Verado 400R the market opens up.
For me there are 3 options per date:
Outerlimits SV29 with a single 400R
Tuff 28 with a single 400R
Chaudron 27 (27,5 feet) with a single 400R
Mark Weigl estimates the Tuff 28 to run approx 95 mph with a single 400R. I know Chaudron managed 85 mph with a single 300XS on their SV27. They had some set up issues with a single 400R (steering). I do not know the top speed for the OL SV29, but I presume it will run 90 mph +.
90 mph + speed with a single 400 hp engine and a 27,5-29 feet boat was unheard of 10 years ago. So this is great fun.
The question is the cost of this. Chaudron SV27 is USD 35,000 plus VAT. I think that price will be hard to beat by the others. However, Tuff is Tuff and Outerlimits is an Outerlimits.
Do anyone of you got any indications of a price for Tuff 28 and OL SV29 without engine and outboard set up?

From: west palm beach FL,
the Tuff 28 with twin 300xs is a 90 + mph boat So I don't think one 400 R will push it to 90 mph , unless it take a 3 mile runway . If money is no object go with the Outerlimit's but I think a boat built on your side of the pond will be the best bet $$ wise , the Chaudron if built rite would be my choice if I was on that side
good luck with your choice

Toffen for reference a Swedish client of mine recently bought a Goldfish 28 Tender with twin 400r's it runs about 80 knots, here in Miami waters with bottom paint. I think it is unlikely any similar sized boat will run the same speed with half the power. The Goldfish is quite light as you know. I have driven it and it runs quite nice for a small boat even in rougher water.

Hi!
Thanks
I will contact Mark re pricing. The Chaudron runs 85 mph with a single 300XS. With a 400R it should run close to 90 mph. I am not sure about OL SV29, but it runs approx 93 mph with a single 565. However, a single OB 400R is lighter, so it should run close to 90 mph in my view.
I know the Goldfish boats well. A good friend of mine deliver all metal hardware to them.

Toffen, these are right around the corner from you and they are just now putting one together with the 400R. Serious wave crushers.

I would go with the 27 activator before the other 2 for a single 400
tuff is a very wide ski boat design,,,,not a wave crusher
outerlimits is a very nice boat ,,,,,built for I/o not been built as an I/b yet so would be a test
the narrow deep vee activastor is a great wave crusher and light for a single
I have an old Excalibur 27 which activastor came from with steps added
and with o/bs even the old hull is fast in the rough,,,,i have mine overpowered with trip 260s
and balanced out for the rough and even the old straight bottom passes 100

I think another that may meet your criteria. Contact Will Smith. Great guy to talk with and willing to do a single 400R on his 30.
