The old gauges have 4 wires, switched 12V power, illumination wire, sending unit, and ground. The gauge im working on first is an oil temp FWIW.
The Auto Meters only have 3 places for wires...Illumination, sender, and ground.
I tried different ways to wire it up and I cant get the damn illumination to work. I put the switched 12V and illumination wires together on the ill. stud, just the grey wires (illum on boat side) and just the 12V wire (purple on boat side) with no dice.
I also ran a wire with alligator clips from the ground stud to a grounding block to rule out a ground issue from not having the other gauges hooked up.
Fuse isnt blown either.
I cant call them until tmw, so im asking here...I figured Im not the only one that switched over with this issue.
Thanks for any help
Typical boat, one step forward...nine back.
