Default 2005 496 mag starter questions, fuel filter, and spark plugs

hello all,

I just bought my first boat, a 2005 270br crownline with the 496 mag and 350 hours, a few questions
1. I took it out this weekend and when I went to start it, it would turn over 1 or two times and then a high pitch whining sound would occur, almost like the flywheel isn't engaging. turn key off, then back on, did same thing. after about ten tries she finally fired. think my starter is going bad or other thoughts? it did not do this when I took it out for test ride with seller.
2. going to change plugs this weekend, any tips? single engine. do I need to put on anti-seeze with the densso plugs?
3. also going to change the fuel filter and the small filter that sits at the bottom of fuel filter cavity. any suggestions here on what to ensure I do right or where to buy filters?

other items you recommend I keep my eye on?

thank you.

jon

Yep, I agree as the most probable cause

Shouldn't need anti-seize, but will not hurt. If in slat water may be a good thing more so

So far as the filter, just search for the part number

I used to use anti seize on plugs all the time but then read that it was not a good idea. What seems to happen is that generally too much is used. When the engine heats up, the anti seize then runs down into the cylinder causing excessive wear. I now just use a light coat of oil and have had good success with that.

On the starter, check the simple things first. Make sure the batteries are holding full charge and that you are getting good voltage to the starter.

Good luck.
