How much horsepower can you run through bravo one- feedback w/experience

I am buying a boat with twin 502s that make about 430 hp each but I want to add some carbs, cam pistons heads etc and superchargers and the output should rise to about 650-700 each.
With bravo one drives it seems this is more than they can handle but some people say it is not a problem just accelerate and also strange to me but deacelerate slowly.Do any of you have something to say? Anyone

There are many threads on here that cover this topic in great detail.

It depends on the boat, water conditions you run in and your driving abilities.
I had 650 HP in front of my Bravos on a 34 Scarab. But I wasn't into flying the boat and know how to throttle.
I now have 800 + HP on an X drive upper / IMCO lower but that is on a 26 Daytona that only weighs 4500 LBS.
Another factor is slip. Both boats had high slip numbers getting on plane.
The only problem I had was with an IMCO vertical shaft that had a defect. This was on the SCARAB

All depends on how you drive it. I have a heavy 36' apache and am at 765hrs on the original bravos. Boat had stock 502's for the first 550 hrs and has had 540's for the past couple hundred. Hp is still mild in the sub 600 area.

My boat is a 1995 and has the deeper x dimension so prop's aren't accidentally coming out of the water unless I purposely send it (never accidentally "zing" them as a result).

I am careful about my hole shot onto plane and also don't chop throttles when coming off of plane and when underway throttle intelligently.

I am on borrowed time and have two spare bravos for when one finally goes. Should I start to kill drives I would probably upgrade to scx's as down time is more of an issue to me then the expense (only get so much time to boat and don't want to waste valuable time pulling wrenches).

I've owned the boat for 11 years and feel pretty fortunate I have made it so many years and hours with just annual drive services and some common sense driving techniques. I do feel my deeper x has a lot to do with my "luck."

550 to 600 anything over that plan on drive upgrades in your budget. In reality you should anyway!
