We had one here just west of Asheville about 5 years ago. It was something like 110 cars. Only one person was killed though. It was caused by fog also. Pictures like that really make you think twice about how close you follow other cars.

I was involved in a case of road raage today. I was in a 70 mph zone doing 78 passing a long line of semi's. The car behind me being driven by a woman was tailgating me VERY close. I turned on the 4 way flashers to get her to back off -YEA RIGHT - all it did was piss her off and she got closer. I had to hit the breaks when a semi pulled out in front of me. I think she actually hit me in the back end since I felt a tap. We then were doing 60 mph behind the semi with her trying to go around me on the shoulder - no room- When I get past the semi's she comes flying around me and cuts over and slams on the breaks. I should have hit her. I had plenty of witnesses. She then BLEW through a construction Zone at better than 85mph. I was hoping she would have been pulled over -I would have stoped and told the officer what she had done.

Tinkerboater-
I have to tip my hat to you for the patience you displayed in that situation.
I put a guy in the ditch after I literally stood on my brakes with both feet, because some a-hole was riding my ass. It solved the problem, but hindsight tells me it could've gotten someone hurt. Luckily it didn't.

You should have written her license plate # down and called her in for hit and skip. Tell the cops she rear-ended you and your neck is killing you. Voilia~New boat, courtesy dumb *****!!!

The last that I heard was that the death toll was up to 9. That was last night, so it may go higher. I live right on the lake and it was very foggy yesterday. It's very disappointing in that some people just are incapable of slowing down.
