1. Is this the correct way to measure prop depth? With the boat on a trailer I tucked the drive all the way in, put a straight edge on the pad and measured the distance from the center of the prop shaft to the straight edge.
2. Using the above methodology my depth was 5 1/2 inches. What is your 280, 290, VR 1 measurement. Not sure if it makes a difference but my VR 1 was originally the Solarized F1 race boat. If I remember correctly for a while APBAA had rules on prop depth.
Need to do some prop tweaking and also thinking of a -2 drive.
Thanks,
Padraig

Looks like I did it wrong. I suppose that to get the drive parallel you could level the pad using a 6 ft level, level the cavitation plate and then measure the distance from the pad to center of prop shaft. Will do that soon and post results.
What results have VR 1 people had with a -2 Shorty?

Looked into that option when I first bought the boat. Kenny H said "MAYBE" a mph or two gain with the right prop. The negative attributes turned me away. Harder to plane the boat, prop will want to blowout turning, harder on the Bravo......
Kenny said tbe VR1 is setup to run....... You just need to add the HP!

I put a level to the pad, made sure the pad was level, then took my prop off and put a torpedo level on the prop shaft at level then took a 6' level and went from the pad to the prop shaft and measured. 2.5" below the pad. And she sure runs like a raped ape !
