Default How cold does it have get?

How cold does it have to get to freeze and break something on a boat? Of course 32* is freezing but wouldn't have to get into the twenty's for a while to hurt somthing!!

It's going to get close to 32 tonight, some weathermen are saying 31 some 33, so what I'm asking is Do I need to go get the boat and put it inside?? The weatherman said he hasn't winterized his yet!!

It wont freeze over in one nights time at 30 degrees. We leave the baja in wet dock well into november, never froze anything, i do start it up and run it for a few minutes when it is getting around low 30s for a low.

You can always toss a shop light in there to make sure.

I wouldn't worry about it. It would take a REAL LONG time to freeze water at only 30*. If thats the overnight low, then it will only be at 30* for an hour or so. I've had my boat in the water at the marina when the low has been 20* and never had a problem.

We did an unscientific test last winter and it took over twenty four hours at 20 degrees F to freeze solid enough to do damage.

I hear ya. It only gets down to 20 here if you haven't winterized.
