Well, at least this season I get to use hand tools instead of fooling with epoxy and 1708....
See?! Outboard guys have motor problems, too!

Yikes, what caused that? looks like one cylinder was good. oil injection?

#1,#2,#4, #6 looked fine, #3 was milkshaked, #5 is destroyed. Oil injection was functioning, I'm not sure what happened yet. These are nikasil lined and part of Mercury's planned obsolescence program, so it's probably not rebuildable. Now it's a matter of checking the spare powerhead and getting it on the boat. After that it's a matter of prayer and luck hoping it doesn't happen again before I can spring for a 300XS.

Well this is fun.....
Saying a little prayer that everything is functional on the spare powerhead I had in the garage. Called the local dealer about a 25" 300XS and was told I could get one.... in late July or early August!
