Ok so here is the question. I am looking for a out drive for my 23 foot powerquest. It has a bravo 1 now it won't last lol. Motor is a 496 twin turbo. Will start out with 4 lb boost. But will turn it up as the tune gets better to 12 lb of boost. Boost will come in quick from twin T4 70 mill turbos. So what is going to last on the boat and not cost 30k lol. I also don't want to spend 7k for a prop. So let's keep that in mind. Look forward to getting some feed back.
Sorry new to the boat world. I have 2 drag cars. This is a whole new world. I have been reading and researching as well. Just want to see what potions there are I may have missed.

It all depends on power and some on weight.
The guy on here (check300 ?) that did a 30ft Checkmate with twin turbos and ran 100+ hung a #6 on his boat.
With your budget (as you expressed) Don't look up a #6 drive...it may sterilize you.

Ok so not new new. I have been boating for 2 years now. It did 60 mp before. Never had any incidents. I know motors. Just the outdrive is new as far as power handling. This motor and outdrive combo will go in a bigger boat later. That's why it will start at 4 lb of boost. When I get the bigger boat I will swap motors and drives and go faster.

That's a lot of power and the Powerquest isn't the lightest boat....Imco, #6 or arneson is what your going to want. If you want to stay cheap run the bravo and be prepare to replace, I cant imagine that will make for fun boating though.

The drive may last long enough for you to decide that you are wasting your time on that hull. You wouldn't try to tune a 1000HP LSX car with stock suspension and 275 radials, so why try it in a boat? You'll never have the opportunity to hold it in the power in order to tune it even if you put a killer drive on it. Just my opinion.
