Default 525 low hours

After three seasons of a bad luck with aHp 500 I went ahead and purchased a 525 efi with 144 hours on it.(never been open or rebuilt) My plan is to make it a winter project and put a whipple on it. I'm a little worried about slapping a whipple on it and having a big failure next year, I want to do it the right way so I increase my chances of reliability, so my question is what would you do to this motor before you put a whipple kit on it and rigged it into your boat.

At a minimum, new springs, rockers and lifters. After that, I'd call Eddie Young and ask him.

A new 525EFI whipple kit is over 10k. I'd run it for another 1-2 years until it needs opened and then add the Whipple kit and necessary upgrades.

Nah... he's just spent countless hours on the phone with me over the years and really knows his stuff when it comes to the 525's.
