About how fast, on average, was that front pack running? I am just curious for my own boating reference, and rough boating days living on Lake Erie.

we were running between 50 and 60 mph and we were with the front pack.

And about half of that coming back uphill, right?

We tried a bunch of different speeds and you are correct, 25 to 30 was all we wanted. There was no discernible pattern so it was impossible to get a rhythm.

Cool thanks. I was going to say, when the waves get square and bumpy, I have found that around 60 is a good cruise, anymore (like 75-80) and you're asking for it. Maybe in a 47' boat I would have bigger balls, but Erie is weird, 100% unpredictable wave structures.

Man, when you say "100 percent unpredictable wave structures" you nail it. (You're a Lake Erie local so I'd expect that.) I would describe the ride toward the lunch stop as mostly following seas, but there also were these mutant breaking swells that would attack you from the port (open to the lake) side. Killer mutant seas. Lake Erie.
