I was in the process of winterizing my water system when something strange happend, Yesterday I drained the water system and it stunk real bad, I then flushed it with water and then about 1/2 gallon of bleach. This got rid of the odor. I drained it today and started to add the pink antifreeze. as I turned on the pump all I got out of the faucets and showers was clear liquid. I kept on pouring in the antifreeze...kept on getting clear out the faucets...???... After about 12 gallons of pink stuff it dawned on me. The bleach left over in the tank was dissolving the pink dye in the antifreeze. To test I put 1/4 cap of belach in a fresh gallon of antifreeze. I shook it a little and it all turned clear! I guess it is well protected now after 12 gallons. You learn something new every day!

Hmm, I have noticed a similar reaction with beer...

At least you figured it out!! That must have been real strange while it was happening.

Make sure you flushed the water heater too.

Some people just add a liter of cheap-ass Vodka to their water tank every few weeks.
