Default Might there be anew trend in poker runs?

A new horizon for poker runand more .

All my life I have had a fascination with powerboats . I was at the hlm of a boat even before I dreamed of driving a car. My fascination still persists today . I have always loved anything to do with boating , races rallies and poker run. I am especially enthused about poker runs. These events draw together several varieties of boats to run together in some real exciting locations . The winning in these event is not based on the speed or the sophistication of your boat bur on the luck of the card draw . These event also bring together boater in a festive environment that always surrounds poker runs.

These event have changed throughout the years with many of the boats became bigger and faster . Some of these poker run boats [ pleasure boat will easily outrun many full tilt race boats ] this is very exciting. This makes the poker run a real breathtaking spectical. Even the pontoon boats are bigger and faster . This is great.

This has also pushed the idea of running in a poker run beyond the reach of most boater. Most boaters do not own a big Cigarette or a Nortech or a MTI. My personal dream is to have a super fast Mystic and run in all those extravagant poker runs, but right now that dream sort of escapes me , as it does for about 98% of boaters

In my neighborhood no one owns a Nortech a Statement or an MTI. There are tons of other boats . In my estimation no more than 2% of boats fall in the ultra fast poker runner classification of boats. The ironey of this situation is that it seems that about 98% of the poker runs cater to this 2% . Clubs and orginizations such as the Florida powerboat club poker runs America, FMO and Elite poker run… all seem that they are bidding all for the 2% slice of the pie. These guys do a sensation job and their events are spectacular. These guys are the Neihman Marcus of powerboating.

I wish I could afford to regularly shop at Neihman Marcus. I most regularly shop at Walmart . I also wish that I could successfully have a poker run organization that was Neihman Marcus class ; But it seems to make more sense to pursue the 98% rather to try to again divide into that 2% .In my view of situations there are not many evens for that 98% of the boating populous .

I have put on affordable events such as the toys tour the Kids Stuff Run and the School supply poker run . These event did not market specifically to the billionaire Boat club[ we do welcome them] we marketed to the blue collar average joe the 98%er . We have enjoyed success with these events. These events have always had a charity outlet . The donation amount has always determined by the guests. The Poker runners were welcome to donate as much as they wanted . These donations came in the form of toys school supply or kids clothes never cash.

Poker runs should not be only for that select 2% but for everyone . With this concept in mind I would likee to announce a poker run organization that will try to get it participants from that 98% part of the pie. We will market to all not just the select of that 2%

We will set our focus on Fun Welcome to BIG FUN POKER RUNS

Our event will be for all boaters we also have car events . we are here to serve you no matter what you have an Allison or a ZX Donzi a mini boat aor a Mysitc an Aston Martin or a 240z

We look forward to seeing you everywhere feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We are Based in Orlando Fla so when you come to see mickey visit us also we will buy you lunch . Send us one of those other boat club/event t-shirts and we will send you a brand new Big Fun Poker Run T-shirts.

BIG FUN IS FOR EVERY ONE

Good Luck with the new club!
We in NJ have embraced all boats in our club. We have a 40mph class for our Atlantic City Poker Run and have changed a few of our poker runs into fun runs with no entry fees. This year we had as many boats in the 40mph group as we did in the 60, 80, and 80+ groups combined! We had everything - cruisers, bowriders, small center consoles, and pontoon boats! We have always embraced the the smaller and slower boats and even before we had official groups, when I first joined back in 2000 (I had a 22' Donzi Classic) we used to pool together the small boats and form our own group. We used to have my boat, a 22 Donzi Zx, and 18' Donzi, a 13' Bullet boat, a 28' Bat Boat, 24' Checkmate, and a number of others all running together.

FMO welcomes all boats. Lots of CCs in the club also. Plenty of smaller single engines have done many of the runs. It's a great idea to include a lot. Good luck.

Sounds good to me. If I could ever afford a huge dollar boat I'd steer toward a vee bottom under $175k anyway. Anything above that doesn't interest me in the least. I prefer the older school look.

Put the fun back in Poker Runs. The glamour is getting boring to anyone outside that sphere.
