I'm considering what my next boat should be and are looking for suggestions.
I have a new 1100 HP blown BBC ready to go in something, ideally single engine / Imco or even surface drive.
I also live on the Chesapeake bay so it will also take a beating out in the ocean every now and then.
I really like the look of more updated hulls as well.

Any suggestions ?

Here you go! The problem is going to be hooking that power up to the water. Single engine boats of this size are sensitive to large props and too much power.

LaveyCraft 2750 NuEra, 28 EVO, or 29 NuEra would all be good choices to look at.

Single engine surface drive...get yourself ready for a lot of experimenting. You would be best off with an SCX upper and whatever lower.

not sure how these hull would handle real rough water...they do have center pod but def no problem with the HP! SCX4 working fine on them.

We have a single engine cat (26 American Offshore 850HP) running SCX upper/SC lower. Got about 70 hours out of lower and now it is trashed. Case is cracked leaking lube. Talked with IMCO and they said be prepared to rebuild SC lower at the end of every season with this setup. Now thinking about SCX lower options but have heard the bullet size can cause handling issues on single engine cats. It sounds like Redline has figured out a winning recipe on this type of hull.

I am a big cat fan, however I would suggest you look for a deep V hull as large as possible for the rough water. Smaller cats do not like the rough water. 36' and up cats (true tunnel) will handle rough water as good or better than a V hull.

Check into insurance rates of cats with power before you buy and you will probably have your answer. Jeff wurl

yes RPM does have a bad ass cat!! Steve Tripp (RIP) did a great job on them!!! I knew nothing of them till a friend of mine purchased one. They are top notch all the way!!! worth a look but I have to agree that a true tunnel would be better in the rough but any 30 and down cat is not going to be a smooth ride in rough seas anyway LOL.
