Default Bravo rear transom bell housing gushings

old style with the spring washers, I just noticed one of mine is 1/4" lower then the other side. What is everyone using for these bushings ? Are the factory ones the same or have they change to a different style or is that just for the new transoms

You talking about the mounts on the flywheel cover where they sit on the inner transom plate? If they don't match, there is an issue. Ok, this is the transom replacement biat. We got a couple of days to figure it out. Part names: on a car, the part that has the flywheel in it is the bellhousing, cuz it is shaped like a bell. On a boat it is a flywheel cover. On a boat the bellhousing mounts to the gimball ring and the drive mounts to it. Cuz IT is shaped like a bell. Just to be confusing. If this is the case, the transom assy could have dropped crooked with transom collapse and the mount on flywheel cover that had all the weight could have been pushed in.

Or his spring washer/bushings went bad. That why the made the newer style. Try replacing them and check the alignment

It goes by serial number - as to what and how the set up is. Things change, what boat owners have as many parts and procedures change thru out. If not done correctly most will cause a bigger headache, I have been posting this up here for last 4 years about transom assemblies and that all OEM marine info / parts and proper procedures goes by serial numbers. .

you always confuse me when you say the transom assembly has changed. Point of clarification. The inner transom plate has not changed. What has changed is the bellhousing on the fly wheel. Which makes the difference when putting things back together. Just because this gentlemen has xyz serial number for a transom means nothing. How do we know someone didn't swap bellhousings out...sadly this process is not fool proof.

In this case BUP is using "transom assy" as all-inclusive term for everything between the engine block and the transom itself. And the inner transom shield itself is about the only piece that is the same across this design change. Those mounts are pressed in to the flywheel cover. I think the uneven load between sides has forced one mount up into the flywheel cover. I would start shopping for a replacement flywheel cover. The 2 mount holes can no longer be trusted to keep the mounts where they are set.

look at the bellhousing, the bushing is either knurled(new style,no spring) or smooth, old style.pretty simple.whats hard to see is if the bushing has moved in the housing(its only pressed in).thats when things need to be corrected.
