38' AVS speeds?
#1
I built some engines recently for a 38' AVS. 565's making over 725HP,'
Curious what others have for power and what speeds you're running? Also, what gear ratio?
Any other AVS with ITS boxes and shorties?
Thanks in Advance,
Pic for attention.

I have a '99 AVS... 540 Mercury Bulldogs, extension boxes and labbed 30's. Best I've seen is 81 with light fuel on one last blast late in the year when it was cool. Curious to hear the final numbers on the boat with your mills.

This past weekend the boat ran 87mph with a small chop, 6 people on board and full of fuel. AFR is also showing rich (12:1). Air temp was around 90 with high humidity. I think 90mph will be possible after some fine tuning with better weather and water conditions.

I would think that you will make it there. A friend of mine has one with some 650's and he's seen 83/84 but low 80's consistently.
Our setup was 84/85 any day of the week and 87 being the top number.
We're shooting for 90mph this year with some engine upgrades.

That's a 38' straight bottom hull, right? So, it appears that the AVS is worth about 7-10mph?
