Question Towing Hustler 900miles w/ cockpit cover,What tape U using??

Im making a 900mile trip pulling my Hustler, I know most dont recommend Towing w/ cockpit covers, But just in case I get caught in the rain etc, It will help keeping the water from running under cover soaking the dash/interior/engine compartment etc. it also will help keep the cover from unsnapping and beating the paint.

Ive used 1 kind of blue painters tape that didnt hold to good I Was wondering if the 3M painters yellow or green tape or a diff kind of Lowes blue tape, Im sure there's a special tape, but im leaving tomorrow/thurs, so im limited.

I put the Pull a dot snaps on front side of windshield and they will not unsnap, the side are reg style, But the cover and snaps are also all new. Sunbrella canvas

What have you all used before?? Thanks for any sugestions..

Rob

Bad idea. Mess can be cleaned. It's just water. But that's my two cents. Good luck. And nice boat

I've towed with mine on out of necessity, never had a problem. It does stretch it out though.

I've always pulled with a cockpit cover. Never an issue. Just make sure to have the poles in place. For tape, the guy that used to deliver boats for Sunsation used the blue tape you use on shrink wrap.

Never an issue as long as you have the "flop" out of it. I stacked towels in some areas to take out the slack. Then used the wide shrink wrap tape around all of the edges to keep the air out.

Good luck.

Default cover on towing

Strip
I've done that exact thing towing to LOTO.

Green frog tap the entire perimeter, make sure you go four passes wide (over lap)it took me 3 rolls of 2" wide tape.
Can be no chance of tape lift or pockets or voids.
Put towels over the head rests and bolsters.

Use Shrink Wrap tape you can even go over the top from side to side to help tension the cover

As mentioned above....cover it and use tape. I personally am not trashing interior over spending a bit of time making sure I've got the cover secured properly....have towed 1000's of miles covered...My $0.02....

Take heed:

1) DON'T USE SHRINK WRAP TAPE. It's TOO sticky. It's made to stick ONLY shrink wrap to-shrink wrap. If you have paint, it will take top layers (clear) off with it.
2) First, try 3" or 6" PAINTERS tape.
---https://www.amazon.com/3M-2090-Scotch-Blue-Painters-length/dp/B007Y7GQAU/ref=pd_sbs_229_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FJZFJ 0GPJ550VT70CJMD
It will stick to paint and gel, and SOME cockpit covers. But you must install it dry. You might still be able to find 4" painters tape, but it's hard to find as most have discontinued it.
3) IF painters tape isn't working for you, buy HULL PRESERVATION tape. It's designed to hold shrink wrap TO gelcoat and the like. BUT don't leave it on too long. And don't leave it on exposed to sun longer than just when you are towing. And, you must install it when the boat and cover are dry. I buy my Hull Preservation tape exclusively from Dr. Shrink:
