I have a 6.2 MPI with a Bravo1 outdrive - I'm planning to upgrade the top end of the motor over the winter. The motor sits too low for the camshaft to be pulled out without running into the rear seat frame.
Is it possible to remove the engine mounts and pivot the front of the engine upward? Or will the engine need to be removed completely?

99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999 % of the time it is easier to pull the motor.

I was afraid that was the answer. If I pull the motor, Ill be tempted to put in a 427 SBC Dart Block.

A few years back, I swapped cams in my 454 equipped 233 Formula Interceptor. Didn't want to pull the motor, so I got a 4" hole saw, did some careful measuring, cut a hole in the seat frame, and slid the cam out. When done, I glued the "plug" back in. Just sayin...

You also have to drop the oil pan. You can get timing cover off, but back on without leaks without new pan gasket probly ain't gonna happen. Top end upgrade. New heads too? Exhaust? Do you have somebody to re-tune the ecm?

Did the same in my challenger. When I was younger I swapped out at least a dozen cams without pulling engine btwn boats and cars with no issues. Although I've pulled engines from an oak tree also. The good old days.... if you have a shop where you can pull obviously the best. Two piece covers are nice but still hard on body parts with all the bending over. Under two hours you can have on a stand right next to your tool box though!!! Just don't use front gasket regardless.

Damn I'm glad my seat back is removable and allows frontal access all the way down to the block circulation pump. Some engine bays I've seen look like such a nightmare to work in.

these are one-piece seal motors I assume. take off exhaust and starter and you should be able to partly drop pan to get front cover back on. intake will be off. drop a piece of plywood over the heads to give you a platform to lie on to reach under in back.
