Default Unlimited U19 Potential Purchase

Hi Everyone,

Id like to start off by saying hey and thanks for the add! I'm current looking at a 1996 Unlimited U19 and was hoping to get some feed back from some of you that might be familiar with them. The one I'm looking at is mint condition with the 5.8L V8 Volvo Penta power plant. The entire hull and trailer is in mint condition with no issues. The interior is also original and in mint condition. He is asking $12500.00 Canadian funds. Thoughts? concerns? Seems like a decent buy to me.

Thanks everyone.

If I remember correctly the early models had handling problems. Not sure but I think it may have been corrected later. Hopefully someone with a better memory will chime in.

Talk of one of these came up very recently . Check out the 'search' feature if you haven't already .

Although I think they remedied the handling issue I still remember reading the original PowerBoat test from many decades ago where the testers (and they were experienced guys) got out of the boat white knuckled !

Is that a d/p unit on yours ? I think a lot of them had that .

Yes. I read that but apparently it was trimmed up too high. Any idea if that is a reasonable price for a 1996 Unlimited U19? Thanks!

If you read that you were either very lucky to find an old, old magazine or you aint no spring chicken ... lol

I don't think it was an issue of being over trimmed either .

If that thing is mint as you say the value seems fair though .

Okay thanks Mad. Im just looking for something that sounds bad ass cruising down the lake but can also cruise nicely around 45-50MPH. Im not about racing but do enjoy a nice engine sound to the ear drums . I read a few older treads of people also stating about the trimming. Appreciate the feedback.

Ya, be careful. It's a terrible handling hull. Has the rounded keel, tiny strakes that don't run full length.
