I just discovered that my props are turning in. Could that be hurting me ? I hear rumors that turning the props in gives more bow lift and makes the boat one or 2 miles an hour faster. The boat came with 32 pitch props and will only run 76 mph at 5000 RPM.
I tried a set of 30 pitch labbed and a set of unlabbed props.
labbed- gained higher Rpm but went slower.
Unlabbed- had a better bite but performed similar to thr labbed set.
could it be that the props turning in hurting the performance of this boat ??

Turning in is faster for the Velocity pad hull and how Steve Steppe set up them up. From the factory it likely had 1.5 ratio. The boats left the factory dialed in very well!

Thank you for that information. I had no idea the boats left the factory with the props turning in. I'll be sure to change them back to turning in.
I went out one more time after I made my post about the 30 p props goaing more rpm and less speed. Well to my surprise we ran 79.5 on GPS with no chop. That's with the props turning out. But my port motor was turning 5200 rpm and the starboard was turning 5600 rpm. I got no alarms Or rev limiter from the motor that turned 5600 RPM. The tachometers are original. Could it be that my tachs are a little off? They are 15 years old. Lol. I am loving this boat. It is so smooth and handle like its on a rail.

Yes your starboard tach is most likely reading high as the rev limiter is around 5,400 as I recall. I have one tach (Faria) that reads high until I tap it with my knuckle and then it goes down. Turning the props out is slower but supposedly calms things down if you have too much stern lift running very big props (guys that run/ran fast 320s can relate!) and makes for easier docking.

I have a 30. The problem with turning in is slippage of about 4-5 mph till about 55 mph. I run bravo 1 28's. Have run 30's and labbed 30's. 28's were much smoother curve of speed to rpm. Top end of 87-88 was the same with best of 88.3 gps @5500 running into a 20mph wind. Eric
