13-year-old surfer helps rescue man after boat capsizes at Jupiter Inlet - Sun Sentinel
Can't believe that guy took a surfboard from a 13 year old kid.....guy was in trouble but I'd worry about the kid more than myself.
Video in link but I will post another below:

Not sure why links don't post unless you quote them

My guess: it was a commercial fishing boat (appeared to be single inboard) and the front bait box was full of water/bait making the boat very front heavy, tide was changing and he simply stuffed the bow overloaded boat and once the water came in the game was over.
A few years ago a big sportfish surfed in a wave at the same inlet, hit bottom and tossed the captain off the flybridge onto the side deck (killing him). Search youtube for jupiter inlet sportfish death and there are plenty of videos assembled from still photos.

The surfer was cool to give the guy his board. Sucks the dudes boat went down but he looks like he's ok.

Ya, very scary, lucky he made it. I think the surfer probably told him to take the board, he seemed like he was a good swimmer and that guy was probably sucking wind. Any open boat can get in trouble fast when stuffed, as soon as you take on another 500+ pounds of water in the front or just bury it like this, it's not good.
This is a clip of a 430 SeaVee stuffing, but as you can see, the closed front displaces the water nicely, and it is no problem.

Gotta be so careful in the open boats. I've seen small bowriders stuff at low speed in wakes and all of a sudden it's full of water and in trouble.
