Default 30 Outlaw

Good evening

looking at an 04 Baja Outlaw with 525’s and XR’s. Any idea on the top speed? Any issues to look out for? I currently have a 32 Dominator and was wondering if the Baja will be a better ride? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The 30 Baja will not be better ride. Friend had a 30 with 496 HO's and it ran around 80mph. He said it got really loose at top speed.

Have some friends with a ‘08 30 with 525s, its and shorty sport master lowers. They say mid 80s. What’s your reasoning for going from the sunny to a Baja? The 30 Baja is a nice boat but not quite as nice as the Sunsation imo. There’s more that goes into the sunny, ie rigging, paint

Pretty sure an '04 30 Outlaw is a liner boat which are known to have issues. Definitely have that checked out before buying. I can see going to the Baja if you are looking for more cabin and cockpit space. Otherwise I'd stick with the Sunny.

I have been in both boats the Sunny and the Baja. My wife doesn't like the lack of freeboard in the Sunsation and the small cabin. I am just looking for a change and an Outlaw with 525's is one of the few I have been hunting. I will have a survey and a mechanical inspection with a mechanic I trust. I have read about the liner issues, any tell tale signs that there are issues? I am going to look at the boat in a few weeks. Thanks!

I agree with F-2 Speedy, that would be a fun combo to run. Our neighbor has an 05 496 HO 30 Outlaw they bought new. 600hrs on it, all original with 1 drive repair. They have not had the liner issue, just do your homework on the boat and the power. Hours on the engines? Top ends done? Headers pressure checked, when were drive internals inspected?

picked this from another post, Not all had issues and I think Baja fixed the ones that did........

started in 04 and ran through 08-09.............and some smaller models also........Fountain built my friends 2010 35 OL

The 23,26,30, and 35 outlaws were liner boats, the 245, 277/278, 335 and 405 were too.
The 40 O/L, 342 and H2x weren't, everything below
2004 isn't.

Liner boats have a smooth finish in the cabin base area
and the engine bay

The boat has 330 hours and top ends have not been done. Wire ties are still on the top ends and the crank pulley. I would prefer have a mechanic I know do the work. Headers are a concern but there are some tell tale signs which are the good ones and which are questionable. The flange gives you allot of info regarding the headers. When I go look at the boat I am taking a long time Merc Master tech with me.
