Default depth finder issues

On my new to me 303, the previous owner installed a new stereo system where he put the "remote" control (wifi, bluetooth, whatever) in the hole where the depth finder went and left the depth finder sit behind the dash gauge panel kinda floppin' around. Where I boat, I feel like I need the depth finder more than the remote control. However, I feel like the remote can be re-installed where the factory fader dial is and BAMMM! A perfect fix. But, the cuts to the wires are right at the factory butt connections, so I can't tell what goes where. The power to the newly installed wifi remote control taps into a orange wire with a black stripe for power and to a black ground as well. He said those are the only two wire he cut. But, there are two other wires cut near the depth finder that I can't explain, but the PO said it worked perfect before HE cut the other two wire I just mentioned. Does this make sense?

Depending on the depthfinder, there should be 3 main parts to the "system".
1) Gauge.
2) Extension wire.
3) Puck.
(*4) The Indicator light/socket/LED hooked to dash illumination.

There will be connectors between each of them. In my experience, with depth finders, GPS, and the like, you will not have success in splicing them. You will be better off replacing the parts that have been cut.

I would agree with you Sydwayz if it was the "sender" wires, these should be the power and ground wires. I hate how he cut the wires off at the butt. However, are these cuts at a but or some sort of resistor? Here is a couple of pics.

Looks like butt connectors to me. Just slice open with a razor blade to confirm.

Yeah, they are. It's stupid how close to the butt he cut the wires.

An update. I found the schematic in the Formula owners binder I got with the boat for the Lowrance depth finder. Apparently, one set of wires (3-white, red and black) goes to power and ground, the other set of wires (red and black) goes to the speaker that make the alarm sound.
I haven't hooked it up yet. But I hope to have it done today.
