Default Winterizing a 353

Can anyone with this boat and Gen V engines tell me how you get the engines to take antifreeze? I have the aftermarket auxiliary ports for garden hose attachment that plumb via Y connector into the back of the raw water pump. Works fine under garden hose pressure. But when I connected it to a bucket full of antifreeze sitting in the cockpit, it didn't draw and grenaded an impeller.

Thanks.

There's probably a check ball in the line, under pressure it pushes it open, but you dont have the pressure from a gravity feed to make this happen.

Yes, my fastech factory flush kit had a check valve built in that only worked under hose pressure. I removed it and changed to a ball valve. Jeff wurl

The Jabsco Water Puppy drawing from a 5 gallon bucket did the trick. The hose connector that snaps in on each engine port does have a positive snap lock and a spring loaded tip that should open up a free flowing connection, but apparently not. Anyway, they are both done.

I put tape over the inlets on the outdrive to create a better vacuum.
