There are some high HP outboards being developed out there! This motor was first introduced in 2015.

The motor is based on the LSx platform

GearBox

ZF tranny ==> https://www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/h.../homepage.html

Each ZF tranny is tested prior to delivery...to Seven Marine

ZF is a German based company. Here's a plant in Italy

Seven Marine purchased by Volvo Penta Seven Marine | Volvo Penta becomes majority owner of innovative outboard motor manufacturer Seven Marine

One of the few recent innovators to make bank in the marine industry. They actually saw a developing market before most and went for it, so kudos to them.

I can't see anything other than good coming from this acquisition. I'm sure Volvo will supply adequate capital needed for R&D and expansion. I know they are expensive but this would be my choice if I were buying outboards. My BMW M5 has a ZF gearbox, and I love it. GM LS & ZF, how could it get any better?

From most of the So Florida guys around Delray & Boynton I heard they arent great as far as reliability goes. I dont know how it is in the rest of the country but most of the guys around here even scoff at Verado reliability and go straight to Yamaha and Suzuki. Is that to be expected at 627 or 557? Like if you had a 1075 you would expect more maintenance than a 525?

Even Outerlimits had Mercury 400's, why arent the performance go-fast and performance CC guys using them. Other than a few Midnight Express around Miami, I dont see 7Marine very often. Have to admit, the 627 would be so cool on some of the newer cats.
