Off Season Planning -
#1
Thought I would reach out to a different forum section and see what y'all think as they say down here in Texas. I am looking to spend summers back in my hometown in Newport - RI and just bought a small place there. Problem is I don't have a clue where to keep the boat! I am looking for any insight to a good spot to keep my Scarab29 for next season. For obvious reasons Newport appears a non starter, waiting list for a mooring alone is years for a resident, or in the afterlife for a non resident.... never mind the high quantity of blow boats one has to drive around.
Any feedback on good slips, docks, dry storage, etc would be greatly appreciated...

Im not familiar with Jamestown but there might be something over there. Problem is you will be stuck using bridges to get over every time you want to use the boat. Same with wickford. Your best bet will be to stay on the east side of the bay and head north. Like the suggestion above. Are you looking to moor or a slip?

assuming you want to keep the boat in the water? if Newport is a non starter there is a really nice marina in Portsmouth a few miles north called Melville. They have slips, boat store, new restaraunt, etc. might be on the expensive side but it’s an option.

Perhaps I am spoiled now down here, but we dry store with valet/tractor service to the ramp for about $320.00 a month. Was hoping to find something similar in the area... if not then my second goal was to slip where similar boats might slip, (HP boat friendly)
That being said, Melville is not one I thought of! Thank you for the reminder!

Thank you everyone for the feedback.
I would appreciate any input from your wife Mike... I have a good friend who lives in Little Compton so that could prove a good spot! Likewise it is always good to know of someone willing to pull those engines! Had to change my starboard motor last year! Yuck!
Maybe I could get my wife to help!
Off to check East Greenwich too....
Thanks!
