Checking out a couple freshened up 1071 blowers on the internet. Can anybody tell me why some have one nylon strip per lobe and some are triple striped per lobe? Are the triple nylon striped lobes for racing fuels and alcohol? Is Mooneyham still in business?Will a MSD distributor fit behind a 1071 with or without a chiller? Thanks for any info

normally the triple striped lobes are for alcohol racing,single strip or no strip are for gas but different brands do different things.a 10-71 12-71 14-71 and 16-71 will all fit if using a 4 inch tall chiller because it raises the blower above a standard msd distributor.a 10-71 will fit with some intakes and not with others .


without a chiller i don,t remember how i did that years ago.i think mooneyham is still in business,maybe do a google search to find out.i hope this information is helpful.

I run a tall deck 572with a 10-71 blower. If you use MSD PN 8570 small diameter distributor, you can remove it with the cap off. I do not run with a chiller

Thanks for info.I am trying for a mooneyham 1071 and was looking into the whipple intake in hopes the distributor will fit.This way if I want or need to the whipple cooler fits right into their intake. I don't think my engine cover scoop will be high enough with a chiller added between.
