Default Making a fiberglass shell over a vinyl/foam Baja dash pad?

The 272 Baja Islander cam with a vinyl over foam dash too much like the old cars of the 70s and 80s and looks rather dated and lame. They do have a rather complex shape and curves to them and was wondering if anybody has made a fiberglass shell over them to finish them out in a sportier look, basically using them as a mold. Would the resin eat the vinyl? Any other problems to expect?

you might be able to make a rough (rough) mold off the piece that could possible yield a part that would need a lot of finish work. you would have to cover everything with tape or pva or something. its a lot of work, so much so i would probably just make something else from scratch.

i would not try to cover the vinyl with resin or glass, that would end up a gooey mess
