Default Repower 400SS Miss Kimberly

I am in the middle of a total repower. The Volvo D-6 350's are out and a pair of D-6 370's are headed back in. The repower includes everything from the props to the helm. I have 2 complete turn key running take outs available to anyone interested. Just at 1000 hrs, mostly fresh water as the boat came from Detroit. This includes computers, throttles, drives, props, wiring looms etc etc.. I just finished spending another 15K on updates for the 350's. When we pulled the set the paint on the oil pans looked new- no typical rust. Were going to use the boat for more touring so we wanted the latest power with a 5 year rapid response warranty. So just fork out $130K and I get new stuff! Ha..... It would be a great deal for someone looking to upgrade from earlier power. These are turbo common rail 4 valve engines. There are a few things that need attention on the take out transom shields. Really easy to do when they are on the bench. Impossible to do when installed in the boat.

Your 382 repower thread was great, looking forward to this one as well. So what are you dropping in?

They are Volvo D-6's also....Not nearly as exciting as the 382 repower. This is pretty much a direct changeout

why 370's and not 400's?
expect to see much performance increase from 350's to 370's?

I'm curious why? I'm in the market for a 400 with Volvo diesels, I have read that with proper maintenance these are 4000 hour engines? What is the reason for the repower? Just warranty? How was your experience with the 350's and the drives?

400's take up almost all the available crawl space in the engine room and they weigh more. I was not willing to give that up. The 350's have been good, I have updated the computers and updated the drives, however the new 370's have lots of redesign different systems that make the system simpler. The pricing for the complete package is way way less than the individual components. A major cooler service on the 350's can be as much as 12K. Its a 1000 hr service. Out of the boat the service is simple. The new warranty is 5 year.

I thought the 400 and 370 was the same base engine with a little bigger air charge cooler. I just picked up a 400ss with 370’s. Was looking hard at one with 350’s but decided to go a year newer. How much changed between 350’s and 370’s?

lots of small upgrade changes. Don't know about older 370's but the newest generation is much simpler. on the older transom shield assembly's its almost impossible to get the trim cylinders off without pulling the engines, The new style its easy, I think there is 1 less computer per side. The drives have all the updates. The exhaust down pipe has a new zinc location.

Default Guage panel

I'm finding out the new electronic displays are really similar to race view in merc. I am removing all the analog guages and related stuff. Also the trim display and helm key stuff. The new system has electronic keys. The helm control with throttles replaces the two display computers. I have boxes of cables that came out. The long panel full of guages will now be blank. Im thinking a laser etched ------400SS------ with grey ghosting as a dash replacement?
