Default Newb prop question

Hello,
At what point do you switch from 4 blade screws to 5 or 6. Is it the power of the engines or the type of events you run in... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Or a thread i might have missed...

Thanks guys!

Lots of factors and it depends on the boat, HP, X dimension, needing stern lift, etc.
The biggest reasons are generally to get on plane easier with high X dimensions and to increase cruise speeds.

^ Yup, a 5 blade gave me better mid range speeds and stayed hooked up better than a 4 blade. I think it might of stayed hooked up a little too good, I broke 2 uppers in a relatively short period of time. 5 blades are tougher on drives.
