Default How much mph you think I値l pick up

I知 swapping out a pair of rude 300 V8s for a pair of 350 verados. It ran 75 with the 300s
the tourist boats here have been swapping out 200 2t engine for more fuel efficient 150 4t engines and getting the same speeds but using 28 gallons a trip vs 42 for the 2t engines. The oil is the real killer tho. Ten qts every hundred hours for the 4t 150s vs 177 qts for the 2t engines.
I知 hoping to hit mid 80s with the verados what do you guys think It will run with the 350s. Thx rm

About 5 mph but your gas usage will drop 40 %.The V8 Evinrude is a beast and ha d great power to weight. The 350 Merc is a great engine but likes 89 octane and is heavier.

Depends on the boat, what is it? If you're looking for a 10 MPH gain on any hull though, that's a tall order.

You might see an extra ten on a downhill section!

my guess would be 5mph due to weight of engines and size of verado gearcases. Will be a fuel efficient whisper quiet boat though.

Using the Bam Speed Calculator, you should run 81mph. This assumes that the only change is the V-8 OMC to the 350 Veraco. The Verado weighs 670, the OMC weighs 550. The V-8 has a big gear case so I am going to say that whatever lower speed advantage the V-8 has is very little. The only other factor is that the v-8 propshaft hp was usually around 285-290 new and a motor with a lot of hours will be down on hp. The Verado is 350 at the prop.

Good luck and tell us what the actual numbers are.
