Default What are the know bad spots and rotten areas on a mid 80"s Scarab 1
I'm looking at a 85 21' Scarab 1 that does not have an engine or outdrive. The boat ran last year, but the seller is pulling the 383 out for his Donzi. Where are the problem areas in these boats? I know the transom, stringers and engine mount blocks to check. The boat does not have a deck hatch.

I know that. Its a production line boat. Anything older than 2 years old is subject to rot. Im just wondering from the people who have them what problems they have had.

Cool old boats. Good runner too with that pad on it. Didn,t much care for the seats , but a nice updated seat and windshield would Rock on the 21.
