Sterndrives.

Bottom photo of boat in Italy courtesy of Archives of Marco Bertini.....you can see the staggered engine configuration.
The boat was sold to Vincenzo Balestreri, who bought many of Don's boats and named them various colors of Tornado.

Charlie:
I thought I had seen all of Don's boats, but this is a new one. Judging from the "1" and the three championship decals (UIM World in '67 and two APBA US-1 nationals in '67 & '68), I suspect this was sometime late '68 perhaps in December? Where is the boat now? Looks like its in great shape.
Thanks for sharing!

The boat is a 28 footer.
The deck was a new design similar to the look on the old rounded Donzi 28 which was much wider.
If you look at the photos of the two boats Don used to win his 67 World Championship, the hulls look very similar but the deck is much different.

Gotta say , that thing is really sweet . Where has it been all these years ? There's just so many pics of Don's boats is this one a 'new' discovery for you and all the rest of us Charlie ?
Although it's in no way connected it does remind me of a Donzi Corsican on steroids.
