Default New Velocity Plant

I'm going to be heading down to Florida for business this Friday and even though the wife wants to go to disney Saturday, I'd like to set aside some time to go check out the new facilities. Has anyone been there? Is it worth the trip. It wouldn't be that far for me to go (were flying into Orlando).

I made it. I had to make it a quick stop but it was worth the trip. I spent a little less than an hour getting a tour through the facilities from a salesman (Kenneth Hohwiesner). They had quite a few (SWEET) Velocities around the plant. I watched a new VR1 get popped out of it's mold and checked out a new 320 getting a fresh paint job. One boat made my jaw HIT THE FLOOR. If I remember right, it was a 390 that was being delivered to it's new owner and was involved in an accident while being towed and took a ride down a long hill. WHAT A TRAGEDY!!!!

I'm definitly glad I went and would recomend the stop to anyone that gets the chance. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I threw at them. My wife was even impressed. Maybe now she'll let me get my 320.

Did you happen to see a purple and teal 280 sitting around in the lot. A friend of mine took it down there for me to have some work done to it.

Yes, I think I did see that boat (if it has the "faded" style graphics). It was sitting next to a REAL nice VR1 with a blowermotor (apparently a 100+ ride). What kind of work is being done?

I am going to get a new rub rail installed, and they are going to order me a drop in cockpit carpet. Also looking at some graphics options that they do in house. If the VR1 that you saw had red and black graphics on it, it was at the jacksonville poker run and there is some pictures under that post in the photo section. Do you have a velocity now?

Yes. that was the Velocity that was at the plant. That is ONE HELL of a powerplant in that baby.

I currently have a 1996 280. I'm looking to do an engine upgrade. It curremtly has a 415 502EFI. I also have a 500hp 454 from extreme marine. I've thought about either throwing a small B&M on the 454 or putting a whipple on the 502. Time will tell.

I also would like to get a drop in cockpit carpet for mine. I'd first have to put some sort of floor in it. It currently has carpet glued to the floor. Well, I actually took all my interior out and ripped the carpet up. I'm also redoing the back bench seat and engine hatch. I'd like to get rid of all the wood I can. The guy I bought the boat from must of stored it outside because there are some "spongey" area's.

Question

How does your boat run with the 415 motor in it? My boat has the stock 310EFI in it and it runs about 61 or 62 on GPS the velocity speedo shows about 66, I thaught it was great until we checked it with a gps. Check out the 3rd page of pic's from Jacksonville, the blower motor in the bottom left is in my friends Throughbred. We impressed a lot of people with that boat.

I have had 69mph on gps. That was with 3 passengers and a 3/4 tank of gas. I've been told I should be able to hit 70 with NO PROBLEM. My speedo showed 73.

I did see that blower motor on page three and I "assumed" it was the one that was in the VR1 on the same page, OOOOPS. How many pony's does that motor have and what is the speed your friend gets? 260 or 280? Is it the Throughbred in the photo that's quoted "drunks".

Yes that is the same boat. My brother built the motor and we really dont know how (ponys) it has but we did not have any problem with the VR1 in Jacksonville. The thoroughbred is the same as a 280 they just changed the name of the boat. It was actually called a 26' boat because that was when they did not include the swim platform in the length of the boat.
